It seems that since summer break has reached its halfway mark, more and more gorgeous and jealousy provoking vacation pics continue popping up on my instagram feed; extravagant architecture, oceans for miles and beachside markets – all of which I see in the “comfort” of my room (i.e. sitting in front of my desk-side fan in shorts and a tank top, trying to keep the sweat moustache at bay). To those us not vacationing in Greece, France or any related paradise, it can sometimes be a challenge to find the inspiration (or motivation) needed to plan a good outfit or dress up at all – especially when you know your clothing will have sweat-marks anyways in the first 10 minutes out the door.
However, there’s no way I’m about to let a bit of heat exhaustion get in the way of looking (and consequently feeling) good.
Recently, I found a photo featuring someone in an adorable baby-pink ruched dress, sitting (next to a fig tree of course) with a cappuccino and croissant. I figured that if it was OK to dress up for coffee on the patio in France, then I might as well go for it at my local coffee shop as well.

I made this outfit out of some adorable red polkadot fabric that was on sale at my local fabric store, and tied it with some sharper sunglasses and sneakers to make the look less “girly” and a little more my style. I also added a vintage Gucci bag (a hand-me-down from my now favourite aunt), matching the brown shades and adding a bit of oh la la to the outfit.

I hope someone could find some inspiration in this post, and remember not to ever feel shy or embarrassed when dressing up for ANY occasion. Stay true to your style, no matter the time of year!
Let me know in the comments if/where you are going on vacation this summer, and if not then where would you want to go??
